A Taste of History... In tribute to the two people most responsible for Jerry's Cajun Cafe & Catering, I have dedicated this establishment to my parents, Audrey and Benny Mistretta. With their unending trust and encouragement, I was able to fulfill my childhood dream of opening my own restaurant. From those roots came this new building (Nov. 1998). It has been built from the heart, with the same character that my parents worked so hard to instill in all of our family. And as I have stated many times, God has blessed me not only with a thriving restaurant, but with my wonderful family. Life is good! I thank Audrey and Benny for their strong support during my planning and preparation for the opening of the first "Jerry's" back in August of 1993. During those five years at the original restaurant I had the privilege of meeting so many extraordinary individuals. I look forward to continuing my favorite thing - to visit with old and new friends at our brand new building. I call it "part two" of my dream. I never imagined it would be so rewarding. Then, on Tuesday, February 27th, a devastating fire destroyed over half of my building. I started the rebuilding process the next day. I can only say, “Thank God for Insurance!” After the fire I was truly overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and support from this community. I’m so blessed to have such wonderful family, friends,and customers, who stood by me and helped rebuild my dream. Also, to my incredible staff! What a great group of young men and women, who make me look good. God Bless you all! But, the fire was nothing compared to the loss of my parents, and my younger brother John, during the past few years. They are now, all together in Heaven, guiding me from above, with God’s Blessings. They will be greatly missed by all who knew them. My inspiration, passion for food, sense of humor and integrity all came from my mom and dad. Their spirit, as well as John’s, will continue to live on in me and in my brothers and sisters, my best friends, Sue, Joanne, Butch and Dennis. Thank you, Mom and Dad I love you.
